A collection of essays exploring the experience of being an immigrant in the UK, and really fantastic. When I started this reading record I resolved to only record positive impressions of the books I was reading, so I need to be explicit here – I can’t be too effusive about this book. It’s essential. As has been said numerous times already, it should be on the national curriculum. It’s everything the cover copy claims it to be, and more. One adjective in particular I’d add is ‘heartbreaking’. Of course the book is heartbreaking.
