You may have seen my last blog post, about GLEAM receiving a paperback release; well, the paperback edition was published yesterday, and includes a beautiful hand-drawn map, suggested book club questions, and a Q&A with myself about some of the themes, characters and ideas in the book. I’ve had my copies through the post, and it’s really a very lovely object.
And if you’re not quite sure whether to invest or not – here’s a brief round-up of recent reviews:
‘Tom Fletcher has created a marvel of a world here with some of the best characters I’ve seen in the genre for some time – brilliantly engaging, page turning joy.’ – Liz Loves Books
‘Gleam is an astonishing novel. Its worldbuilding is not only spectacular, I can think of almost none to rival it. The Pyramid and Discard remain ever so slightly elusive, as more and more is revealed through the journey and experiences of Wild Alan and his companions, but as it is revealed this reader at least was gobsmacked by the levels of depth, colour, stench and strangeness.’ – For Winter Nights
‘Like Scarface meets Lewis Carroll’ – SciFiNow
‘Gleam challenges the genre. It pushes boundaries, and introduces readers to profound and amazing characters. It’s dark, but love and hope are subtle tones that balance that darkness.’ – Bookworm Blues
And there’s some more very exciting book-related news. My first three novels – THE LEAPING, THE THING ON THE SHORE, and THE RAVENGLASS EYE – are going to be re-released as an e-book omnibus, gathered together under the title THIN PLACES. Look out for a cover reveal in the near future.
